craft items, some known only to the North Country |
|
We offer a variety of unique gifts... many of them handmade; clothing, fine wool hats, kitchen items, hand-blown glass,
vintage linens, old glassware, aromatherapy, antiques and some
furnishings. |

|
|

|
Wooden toys for all ages: fire trucks, trains, snowmobiles
and nesting boxes to name a few. Ethnic wood-burning on eggs or boxes.
Pens and bottle stoppers created from moose antlers. Beautiful portraits, photographs,
paintings in oil and
watercolors all displayed in a homey setting. |
|
The building was originally built in three sections. The
middle section in 1811;
the front section which houses Creative Natives was built in 1825. In
the 1920s the rear section was added when the building became Colebrook's
first hospital. Sam & Angie Weeks ran Weeks Tavern in the 1930s,
followed by Mr. & Mrs. Orrie Crawford who ran it as the Crawford
Inn from the mid-1940s until its sale to Willard Nugent in 1956. At the same
time he purchased the abutting garage property. |

|
Willard Nugent opened Colebrook's first convenience
store operating 24 hours a day with full-service gasoline pumps. At this time the
station served as dispatch for the Colebrook Police & Fire
Departments. The two-headed calf was introduced and displayed in the front
window delighting visitors until the renovation of 2002, when she was
moved to a safe location where she may one day be on display for the
public in an adjoining museum. |
