Stop in at the North Country Chamber of Commerce for a free brochure detailing our 'Tours" highlighting the various points of interest each area has to offer! ~ Complete with traveling instructions, each 'Tour' begins and ends at the rest area on the outskirts of Colebrook, right on Rt. 3 (North) where the North Country Chamber is located. ~ Enjoy!

From the Rest Area, go north (right) on Route 3 for 7 miles then take a left onto Route 253 in Beecher Falls. Once on 253, go .7 miles to the Canadian Customs. Then go 4.1 miles to East Hereford!
If you are interested in hiking trails, turn left at the Rue Principale sign and drive 4 miles to view the trailhead of the Sentiers Pedestres 'Hiking Trail (Neil Tillotson Trail).

Turn around then come back 4 miles to East Hereford Village. Turn left onto 253 and watch for a right hand turn to a Trout Farm. Smoked trout, trout pates, trout in puff pastry and trout spreads are available all year in the booth located at the farm.

Turn around and go back to the village junction and take a right. On the left between the school and the church is the fir tree wonderland, Sapins Et Mervilles. Park in the church parking lot and walk over to the gazebo for the information on the trees displayed in the town square. Return to 253 and head north to Saint-Malo where the Saint-Malo Church is located.

Before leaving Saint-Malo, look for the Chemin de Malvina Road and climb La Montagnaise Observatory Tower for a fabulous 360-degree view. Now take 206 to Sainte-Edwidge de Clifton, then 251 to Martinville, and 208 to Compton. On this leg, observe pastoral scenes (a great time to use your camera!). Just before you reach Compton, take a left on Chemin Cochrane to visit a goat and cattle working farm where you can watch them making goat cheese and yogurts (they even make a chocolate cheese). After backtracking to 208, turn south on 147. Just before the town of Coaticook, watch on your right for a curd cheese and ice cream factory where you can observe workers through a glass partition, making both of these items.
Stay on 147 until you see the large '?' mark, then turn left for the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook. Things to see and do there are walking the world's longest suspension bridge....

...take a trip down into the Gorge, go through a covered bridge, visit the round barn, hike, bike or horseback ride.
There are museums and unique shops in downtown Coaticook to visit before leaving there.

When you do leave, take 141 to Barnston, turn left on the Baldwin Mills-Barnston Road to the Trout Farm Lake at Baldwin Mills. After learning all about trout, you have a chance to catch some. There is a set price of a few dollars and you do not need a license.

From there, take the Baldwin Mills-Stanhope Road to Route 147 and the Customs. On the right before the customs is the duty-free shop, if you purchase anything in Canada, be sure to stop there and apply to have the tax you paid returned to you. After stopping at the US customs, turn left onto Rt. 114 and watch for the turn to the R. Burke Gallery (really neat local crafts & painitings) and if you're hungry, take your pick of Quimby's on Lake Averill, The Pure Country Convenience Store, the Northland Restaurant & Lounge, Solomon's Store deli, or the Spa Restaurant in West Stewartstown on your way back to the rest area on Route 3 South. (Customs to Rest Area is approx. 20 miles)
