One of the historical markers for the 45th Parallel is located in Clarksville, NH on Route 145 at the Clarksville Pond Road turn-off. While in the North Country be sure and have your picture taken here, halfway between the North Pole and the Equator

This marker is located in Stewartstown, NH on Route 3 immediately north of West Stewartstown. This is a famous photo stop for North Country visitors as it is also halfway between the North Pole and the Equator

Located on Route 26 at the Balsams Grand Resort Hotel. Dixville is the first town in the country to cast its votes. At midnight eligible voters gather at the Balsams Ballot room, cast their vote and the results are broadcast around the world.

This marker is located on Route 3, 1.7 miles south of North Stratford. Every spring groups of men waited for spring thaws to help them convey the logs and pulpwood down the Connecticut River. "The first surprising discovery was that a third of the northern river was straightened before 1925. The New Hampshire General Court incorporated Upper Connecticut River and Lakes Improvement Company in 1863. and allowed it to "remove the boulders and rocks and all other obstruction from, and enlarge the channel...erect dams, piers, and side or branch booms as may facilitate rafting, driving, floating and securing lumber upon said , river." Soon after, lumber baron George Van Dyke ran the first log drive through this area.

This historical marker is located on Route 145 at the junction of Creampoke Rd. Metallak was buried in the North Hill Cemetery which is a few feet off from the Creampoke Road. Metallak was the last full-blooded Indian to inhabit our section of the North Country

The Republic of Indian Stream- Located in the town park. The residents of the area between Hall's Stream and Indian Stream were sick of being claimed by both Canada and The United States and refused to pay taxes to either country. So they set up the Indian Stream Republic which lasted less than four years before they gave into the forces and were encompassed into Pittsburg.
